DUI is one of the most serious traffic offenses in Illinois. While a first offense is a Class A Misdemeanor which will likely lead to court supervision (depending on your criminal history), subsequent DUI convictions lead to revocation of your license. The fines, alcohol counseling and other costs make this a very expensive ordeal. For first time offenders, you may be eligible for court supervision up to 24 months long. After the first offense, the penalties become progressively more severe. The range of penalties for a first time DUI offense, which is a Class A Misdemeanor are:

  • Statutory Summary Suspension (SSS)
  • Fines up to $0- $2,500.00
  • Up to 24 months court supervision, conditional discharge or probation
  • DUI Technology Fee of $750.00
  • Up to 364 days in the county jail

COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES

  • Second DUI Offense (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Non-supervision eligible, mandatory conviction of record
  • Revocation of your driver’s license for at least 1 year
  • Five days in the county jail or 240 hours community service
  • DUI Technology Fee of $1,000.00

THIRD DUI OFFENSE (CLASS 2 FELONY)

  • Up to 48 months probation
  • Between 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections
  • Revocation of your driver’s license for at least 5 years
  • Minimum 10 days jail or 480 hours community service
  • DUI Technology Fee of $1,000.00
